Sharing many of the same advanced features of the EOS R, including a 30.3 megapixel CMOS sensor, a high-precision electronic viewfinder (EVF) and Dual Pixel CMOS AF with 5,655 manually selectable AF positions**, the EOS Ra is capable of capturing and pinpointing dim stars that are difficult to see with the naked eye. A Vari-angle LCD touchscreen allows for comfortable composition at any angle and easier framing when shooting vertically, especially when the camera is mounted to a telescope. Featuring 4K video recording at up to 30 fps, along with 4K time-lapse capabilities, the movement of stars across the night sky can be recorded in brilliant clarity and detail. Modified Filter for Enhanced Night Sky Recording
Positioned in front of the CMOS imaging sensor, The EOS Ra's infrared-cutting filter is modified to permit approximately 4x as much transmission of hydrogen alpha rays at the 656nm wavelength, vs. standard EOS R cameras. This allows for a higher transmission of deep red infrared rays emitted by nebulae, without requiring any other specialized optics or accessories.
The EOS Ra is a dedicated camera for astrophotography subjects, and is not recommended for everyday photographic use.
* Optional Mount Adapter EF-EOS R is required when using EF/EF-S lenses with an EOS R camera.
** Available AF positions may decrease when shooting with AF cropping or in movie mode, or depending on camera settings or lens attached.
^ The EOS Ra camera is not recommended for general photography, since the camera cannot achieve normal color balance when shooting subjects that emit or reflect infrared radiation.
The Canon EOS Ra, part number 4180C002, UPC 013803326130, is Canon's astrophotography version of the EOS R full-frame mirrorless camera, body only. Canon released the EOS Ra in December 2019 and no longer makes it. Its infrared-cut filter passes approx. 4x the hydrogen-alpha (Hα, 656.3 nm) light of the standard EOS R, and manual-focus magnification goes to 30x in both the viewfinder and on the screen. Canon does not recommend it for general photography, since colour balance shifts on subjects that emit or reflect infrared. 30.3 megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor (approx. 36.0 x 24.0 mm) with Dual Pixel CMOS AF and Eye Detection AF, DIGIC 8 processor, ISO 100 to 40000, expandable to ISO 50 and 102400. 0.5-inch OLED electronic viewfinder with approx. 3.69 million dots and a 3.15-inch vari-angle touchscreen LCD with approx. 2.1 million dots. Unopened returns within 14 days. Changed your mind? An unused item still in its original factory seal can be returned within 14 days of delivery. Email info@quazacollect.com first for the return address. Return postage is at your cost, and a 15% restocking fee (minimum $20 CAD) is deducted from the refund. Opened electronics can't be returned for a change of mind.
