Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution is the English base set of the Mega Evolution block, released September 26, 2025 worldwide and October 10, 2025 across EMEA after a delivery delay. It holds 188 cards, 132 main set plus 56 secrets numbered 133 to 188, and it is where Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, the 3-Prize trade and a gold rarity pulled once per 1,260 packs entered English play. The Mega Evolution ex mechanic and the 3-Prize trade

Every Mega Evolution Pokémon ex carries the same printed rule: when yours is Knocked Out, your opponent takes 3 Prizes, one more than a normal ex. That is the trade the block is built on, and all 28 Mega ex printings carry it. Nor is a Mega ex a new evolution step — each keeps its Pokémon's existing stage, so Mega Lucario ex evolves straight from Riolu.

Mega Venusaur ex at 380 HP is the set's highest-HP card, and each of the ten reappears as a full-art Ultra Rare at 155 to 164. Those full arts introduced a convention that runs through the block: the Pokémon's regular-form silhouette stands beside the Mega Evolution, under a black-and-yellow ex symbol. Mega Signal searches one out; Wally's Compassion heals one.

A first for the TCG: full-art Item, Tool and Stadium cards

Before this set the full-art Ultra Rare Trainer treatment was Supporters only. Mega Evolution is the first English set to extend it: of the twelve full-art Trainers at 165 to 176, six are Items, one a Pokémon Tool (Air Balloon, 166) and one a Stadium (Mystery Garden, 172). The first shown, June 23, 2025, were Night Stretcher 173 and Rare Candy 175.

The market ten months on

Two sources, read July 24, 2026, in US dollars. The PSA 10 column is a market reading, not a sale.

The split in that table is the set's story: the golds are down heavily from launch, the hand-illustrated SIRs are not. Mega Lucario ex 188 traded at US$718 to US$771 raw in the late-2025 launch window and sits at US$255 to US$275, roughly −62%; Mega Gardevoir ex 187 fell from the mid-US$400s to US$182 to US$213, roughly −55%. The Raita Kazama Gardevoir at 178 appreciated over the same period. The cause given is deflation from pack-opening volume. The last three logged raw sales of 188 were US$275.78, US$270.48 and US$281.89, July 21 to 23.

Sealed reads differently. A 36-pack booster box traded in a US$290 to US$330 band through July 2026: PriceCharting's headline US$290.00, pokeinvest.io US$294.60, PriceCharting US$329.34 on July 7 with the box down about 4.8% since launch. Completed sales sit between, US$314.99 and US$310.00 on July 22 and 23. That is 1.8 to 2.0 times the US$161.64 SRP yet flat to slightly negative since launch; the Bundle matches it, roughly US$54 on US$26.94.

In Canadian dollars, Quaza Track read CA$458.85 a box, CA$166.66 an ETB and CA$90.16 a Bundle on July 24, 2026, with Mega Lucario ex 188/132 at CA$389.34. Across the nine tracked sealed products the seven-day move averages −1.0%.

Across the block the line is print status, not card quality. The 2025 sets, this one and Phantasmal Flames, trade at CA$458.85 and CA$584.15 a box; the three 2026 sets still in print run CA$242.42 to CA$296.56. Chaos Rising has a headline Mega ex above CA$300 just as Phantasmal Flames does — but only one is out of print.

One era back the same split is visible: fifteen of the sixteen Scarlet & Violet-era sealed indexes sit above their late-June base on Quaza Track, led by White Flare at 140 and Black Bolt at 134, while Destined Rivals is the only one below, at 93.

Where Mega Evolution sits in the block

The card pool comes from two Japanese sets released together on August 1, 2025: Mega Brave (M1L) and Mega Symphonia (M1S). At 188 cards it is larger than both, some Trainers come from the Premium Trainer Box MEGA, and the Riolu and Alakazam IRs were cut.
