拡張パック「インフェルノX」 is the second expansion of Japan's MEGA series, released September 26, 2025 at 180円 tax included for a five-card pack, 30 packs a box. It holds 116 cards, 80 main plus 36 secrets, and it exists to bring back Mega Charizard X, whose previous Pokémon TCG card arrived 11 years and 6 months earlier. Seven weeks later this pool, merged with both スターターセットMEGA decks, became the English set Phantasmal Flames. Below: the rarity ladder, twelve chase cards, yen asking prices, both starter decklists.
Mega Charizard X returns after 11 years and 6 months
Most coverage rounds the gap to about a decade; the precise figure is better. The previous card was メガリザードンEX in 拡張パック「ワイルドブレイズ」, 055/080 and 089/080, released in Japan on March 15, 2014 and localised that May as Flashfire 69/106. Inferno X landed September 26, 2025: 11 years and 6 months, Japanese release to Japanese release. The count is clean because Flashfire 69 is the only print depicting Mega Charizard X; Flashfire 13 and Generations 12 both depict Mega Charizard Y.
The card was revealed August 18, 2025 at the Pokémon World Championships closing ceremony in Anaheim. It sits at 013/080 as a Double Rare by takuyoa: Stage 2 Fire, 360 HP, retreat two, no Ability, one attack.
ワザ「インフェルノX」 costs two Fire Energy and reads 90×. The printed effect is 自分の場のポケモンについているエネルギーを好きなだけトラッシュし、その枚数×90ダメージ — discard as many Energy as you like from your Pokémon in play, for 90 damage times the number discarded. The load-bearing phrase is 自分の場のポケモン: Energy comes off any Pokémon you control, not only the attacker, so the damage has no printed ceiling. Four Energy from anywhere is 360, enough to knock out its own mirror. The counterweight is the Mega Evolution ex rule: three Prizes to the opponent, not two.
The two cards that feed the attack
An attack that eats Energy needs a supply, and the set ships both halves. オドリドリex at 018/080 is a 190 HP Basic whose Ability エキサイトターボ attaches a Basic Fire Energy from hand to a Benched Fire Pokémon any number of times per turn, so long as a Fire-type メガシンカex is in play. インフェルノX discards from the whole board, so Bench Energy counts. That loop is why the Oricorio ex Special Art Rare is the priciest non-Charizard card here.
ヒカリ, the Dawn Supporter at 106/080 and 115/080, does the other job: search your deck for one Basic, one Stage 1 and one Stage 2 Pokémon — Charmander, Charmeleon and Mega Charizard X ex from one card. Japanese coverage also credits Dawn with lifting Water Ogerpon decks into contention, so both prints carry play demand, not art alone.

The main set is 38 Commons, 26 Uncommons, 8 Rares and 8 Double Rares, every Double Rare an ex. The 36 secrets run 081 to 116: 12 Art Rares, 17 Super Rares, 6 Special Art Rares, one MUR. Four Double Rares are メガシンカex — Heracross 004, Charizard X 013, Sharpedo 051, Lopunny 072 — covering every evolution stage: a Basic at 280 HP, two Stage 1s at 330, a Stage 2 at 360. Neither the MUR tier nor the three-Prize Mega rule is new here; both debuted with メガブレイブ and メガシンフォニア on August 1, 2025, one MUR per set.
What the cards cost now
The MUR メガリザードンXex 116/080 carries a 販売価格 of 198,000円 at 遊々亭 as of July 24, 2026 — the highest asking price on any Japanese card in the Mega Evolution block. For scale: the August 2025 MURs, Mega Lucario ex and Mega Gardevoir ex, both sit at 59,800円, the m4 Mega Greninja ex at 110,000円, the m3 Mega Zygarde ex at 34,800円.

The shape of the table is the finding. Mega Charizard X ex holds the top three slots and the MUR sits 33 times above the fourth card. Everything beneath is an ordinary Japanese secret market: the other two メガシンカex Special Art Rares are 1,480円 each, and the ロトムex Special Art Rare — an ordinary Pokémon ex, not a Mega — 1,280円; seven of the eight Double Rares 120円 to 180円, the Art Rares 420円 to 500円. Art credits explain part of it. Seven of the eight Pokémon Super Rares at 093 to 100 are 5ban Graphics CG renders; 094 by takuyoa is the only hand illustration, and prices more than eleven times higher.
Japanese prices come in three flavours routinely quoted as one number: 買取 is what a shop pays you, 販売価格 what a shop charges you, フリマ相場 the collector-marketplace rate. Every figure here is 販売価格 from 遊々亭 on July 24, 2026, raw and ungraded. No sourced launch-window price was obtainable, so nothing here quantifies movement since September 2025: these are asking prices on one dated day, not a trend. A sealed box market price is likewise unsourced.

Three products carry this pool. The official Inferno X page lists the booster pack alone; the two スターターセットMEGA decks shipped three weeks earlier, the first preconstructed メガシンカex decks released. Each ships a 60-card deck, damage counter sheet, coin, playmat, guide and rulebook, forms its own 21-card set under the marks MBG and MBD, and holds two of its メガシンカex plus an ACE SPEC.

メガディアンシーex 005/021 by aky CG Works is a Basic with 270 HP. Ability ダイヤコート cuts attack damage by 30; ガーランドレイ does 120 per Energy discarded from it, capped at two. The ACE SPEC ヒーローマント adds 100 maximum HP, putting it at 370 behind that reduction. A full-art メロエッタ is exclusive here.

One further channel: プロモカードパック第2弾 reached Pokémon Card Gyms nationwide on November 1, 2025, seven cards, one or two per pack. Two are リザード and エレズン reprinted from Inferno X with entirely new illustrations, alongside ワルビアルex, the new Tool 逆境ほけん, and reprints of トウコ, ふうせん, ノココッチ.
How Inferno X became Phantasmal Flames
Inferno X fed Phantasmal Flames, released November 14, 2025 with 130 cards, 94 main plus 36 secrets. The mapping is not one to one: Phantasmal Flames merges three Japanese products, Inferno X plus both スターターセットMEGA decks. That is why Mega Gengar ex and Mega Diancie ex appear in English yet are absent from Japanese Inferno X.
The rarity counts reconcile through that merge with one deliberate subtraction. Inferno X has six Special Art Rares; Phantasmal Flames has five Special Illustration Rares. The missing one is Oricorio ex, pulled from the English set and reissued as a promo in the November Mega Charizard X ex Ultra-Premium Collection, leaving the Japanese 111/080 as the only in-set printing of that art anywhere. At 94 main-set cards Phantasmal Flames was the smallest regular English set in years.
