Pokémon TCG Twilight Masquerade Set Guide: Greninja ex, Cards and Prices

Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Twilight Masquerade released on 24 May 2024 with 226 cards: 167 main set plus 59 secret rares numbered 168 to 226. It is the 100th English expansion, it is built around Ogerpon printed as four separate Tera Pokémon ex, and its chase card is Greninja ex 214/167 at CA$551.99 today. Every card carries regulation mark H, so it is still Standard-legal — only Temporal Forces is older. Below: the four-mask system, seventeen cards of art, and every product with live Canadian prices.

Still Standard-legal, and second-oldest

The 2026-27 Standard format was announced on 9 January 2026 and took effect on Pokémon TCG Live on 26 March and in person on 10 April. It removed regulation mark G; H, I, J and later remain legal. Six Scarlet & Violet expansions went with it — Scarlet & Violet base, Paldea Evolved, Obsidian Flames, 151, Paradox Rift and Paldean Fates. All 226 cards here carry mark H, verified card by card.

That is an unusual position for a two-year-old expansion: only Temporal Forces, nine weeks its senior, is an older Standard-legal set. A rotation is a tournament decision and says nothing about manufacturing, and no 2027-28 announcement exists, so no date can be given for mark H.

Four masks, one Pokémon

The theme is Kitakami, the setting of The Teal Mask, and the design idea is Ogerpon printed four times as four Tera Pokémon ex — one per mask, one per Energy type, all Basic, all 210 HP, all by 5ban Graphics.

What turns four cards into a system is one Item. Ogre's Mask 159/167, verbatim: “Choose a Pokémon ex in your discard pile that has 'Ogerpon' in its name, and switch it with 1 of your Pokémon ex in play that has 'Ogerpon' in its name. Any attached cards, damage counters, Special Conditions, turns in play, and any other effects remain on the new Pokémon.” It swaps one Ogerpon ex for another in place, keeping everything attached.

Four Ogerpon of four Energy types is a real deckbuilding problem, and the printed answer is the ACE SPEC Legacy Energy 167/167: every type of Energy, one at a time, and if its holder is knocked out the attacker takes one fewer Prize card — once per game only.

The set continues ACE SPEC rather than introducing it — Temporal Forces did that nine weeks earlier — with six: Hyper Aroma 152, Scoop Up Cyclone 162, Secret Box 163, Unfair Stamp 165, Survival Brace 164 and Legacy Energy. The limit is printed on each: “ACE SPEC: You can't have more than 1 ACE SPEC card in your deck.” One in total, not one of each.

The tournament cards are elsewhere. Greninja ex 106/167 is a 310 HP Stage 2 Tera evolving from Frogadier, with Shinobi Blade at 170 plus a one-card search. Dragapult ex 130/167, 320 HP, places six damage counters on the Bench. Palafin ex 061/167 is the set's highest at 340 HP.

The Special Illustration Rares run 210 to 220 and all eleven are here, with three Illustration Rares, two Hyper Rares and the main-set Teal Mask Ogerpon ex.

Yano Keiji drew all four Ogerpon mask Special Illustration Rares — 211, 212, 213 and 215 — and nothing else in the set: a single-artist commission for a four-card art set. Two other names carry two chase cards each: Toshinao Aoki has Chansey 187 and Lana's Aid 219, GIDORA has Hisuian Growlithe 181 and Perrin 220. Across 226 cards there are 121 illustrators.

Greninja ex, and where the money sits

Greninja ex 214/167, the Special Illustration Rare by akagi, is the centre of gravity: US$384.05 market on 25 July 2026, CA$551.99 on Quaza Track. Among the numbered Scarlet & Violet main-series sets only one tracked single is dearer — Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex 231/182 from Destined Rivals, at CA$755.98. It opened above US$250 in July 2024 and climbed to a US$360.34 raw peak in June 2026.

Everything else split three ways. The Ogerpon cards peaked within weeks of release and never recovered — Teal Mask Ogerpon ex 211 from US$41.00 to US$19.80, Hearthflame 212 from US$27.00 to US$13.00. The Kitakami humans diverged: Carmine 217 peaked at US$110.00 and reads US$55.09, while Perrin 220 went the other way, sitting near US$60–90 for eighteen months before doubling to a US$173.75 peak in June 2026. Chansey 187/167 is the one card at its all-time high on the snapshot date.

Two observations follow. The four Yano Keiji mask Special Illustration Rares cost US$23.23, US$13.18, US$17.30 and US$15.52 — US$69.23 for the complete art set, less than one Eevee Illustration Rare. And the set's most valuable Hyper Rare is not a Pokémon: Buddy-Buddy Poffin 223/167, an Item, at US$13.40.

Sealed tells a different story. Against the March 2024 distributor MSRPs the Booster Bundle leads at 2.87× (US$26.94 to US$77.38), the Build & Battle Box is 2.69×, the 36-pack box 2.24× (US$161.64 to US$362.35), the Elite Trainer Box 2.09× and a single pack 1.92×. Divide the box through and it costs US$10.07 a pack against US$8.62 loose — here the box is the more expensive way to buy a pack, the opposite of Temporal Forces.

In Canadian dollars the five tracked sealed products and eight singles averaged −0.6% in the week to 25 July 2026, against an era-wide −0.90%. The set index reads 112.44, eighth of sixteen. It holds sealed products only, so the accurate statement is that sealed Twilight Masquerade re-rated upward — which is not what the Ogerpon singles did.
