Pokémon TCG 151: Every Card, Charizard ex Prices & Why There's No Booster Box

Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—151 released on 22 September 2023 with 207 cards: a 165-card main set plus 42 secret rares. It holds all 151 original Kanto Pokémon and runs in National Pokédex order rather than by type. It was never sold in a booster box — no 36-pack display, no standalone retail pack — so its large-format products are the Booster Bundle Display, Ultra-Premium Collection, Elite Trainer Box and Mini Tin Display. Charizard ex 199/165 is the defining card at CA$562.92 on 25 July 2026, and 151 is the most heavily reprinted set of its era — which is consistent with its flat index.

Sealed 151, priced live

There is no 151 booster box, and there never was

151 is a special expansion, and the era's special expansions were not given a 36-pack booster display. Packs were not sold at retail as a standalone SKU either: the only way to buy them was inside a boxed product. Obsidian Flames, six weeks earlier, did ship a 36-pack booster box; 151 never did. What occupies that shelf position instead, at Quaza's 25 July 2026 prices: the Booster Bundle Display, 10 bundles and 60 packs, at CA$2,982.60; the Ultra-Premium Collection, 16 packs, at CA$1,306.29; the Elite Trainer Box, 9 packs, at CA$871.93; and the Mini Tin Display, 20 packs, at CA$758.80.

That spread is the point: CA$252.42 to CA$2,982.60 is an 11.8-times range inside a single set. A set-level average price would hide all of it, so quote the product.

The reprint history, and what it did to the price

No other Scarlet & Violet set had fresh sealed packs pushed into new boxed products and retailer repacks the way 151 did. They kept coming for sixteen months after the second wave: the Sam's Club Mini Tin 3-Pack in late February 2024, the Costco 2-Pack that March, the Costco Mini Tin 5-Pack in October 2024, and the Blooming Waters Premium Collection on 7 February 2025. Costco and Pokémon Center restocks ran through February and March 2025; GameStop restocked the Zapdos ex Collection on 24 May 2025.

The effect is dateable on the headline card. Bleeding Cool recorded Charizard ex 199 at US$288.23 in February 2025, a monthly peak. Wargamer, on 25 March 2025, put it near US$300 at the end of February and as low as US$230 near-mint by mid-March, blaming "gradual reprints [that] have enabled more fans to pick up packs of 151". By 26 May 2026 FiveCardGuys had the raw card near US$405; Cardrake read $399.43 on 25 July 2026.

At set level it shows up in the index. 151 sits at 100.42 on 25 July 2026, up 0.4% over three months against an era mean of 114.86 — flat, and the weakest of the sixteen Scarlet & Violet sets bar Destined Rivals at 96.17, in a group where fifteen of sixteen are above 100. The index is sealed-only, so that is a statement about sealed product, not singles. A set reprinted repeatedly that then did not re-rate is a clean illustration that sealed prices follow the print cycle, not card quality or nostalgia.

The week itself is quiet and mixed: 15 tracked products averaging −1.8%, five of seven sealed items up, and the Blooming Waters Premium Collection — the youngest supply of the seven — down 4.9%.

The chase cards, and the illustrator design behind them

The 42 secrets are 16 Illustration Rares, 16 full-art etched Ultra Rares, 7 Special Illustration Rares and 3 golds. The collector spine is the three Kanto starter lines, and each line went to one illustrator across its IRs and its SIR: Yoriyuki Ikegami on Bulbasaur 166, Ivysaur 167 and Venusaur ex 198; miki kudo on Charmander 168, Charmeleon 169 and Charizard ex 199; Mitsuhiro Arita, long associated with the original 1996 Base Set artwork, on Squirtle 170, Wartortle 171 and Blastoise ex 200.

Two things get reported wrong. There is no gold Charizard: the three Hyper Rares are Mew ex 205, the Item card Switch 206 and Basic Psychic Energy 207, so Charizard's rarest print here is the Special Illustration Rare 199/165. And because the set runs in Pokédex order, Mew ex — the 151st Pokémon — lands on card 151/165. Kadabra 064/165 is the first Kadabra card since Skyridge, twenty years earlier.

February figures are Bleeding Cool's top-15, published 2 March 2025; the second column is Cardrake's card list. Both are aggregator readings on stated dates, not transactions. Thirteen of the fifteen are higher than they were; two are not, the Ultra Rare Charizard ex 183 and Giovanni's Charisma 204.

Charizard ex 199 is 2.70 times the next card in the set in Canadian dollars, and on the USD readings above it reaches 86% of the other six Special Illustration Rares combined ($399.43 against $462.21). Ten of the sixteen Ultra Rares trade below $10. Across the era it is the ninth-highest tracked single in CAD, behind Umbreon ex 161/131 at CA$2,126.20 and seven others, while leading its own set by a distance. In the week to 25 July 2026 the era's two worst moves among tracked singles were both 151 starter IRs, Charmander 168 at −15.4% and Squirtle 170 at −11.9%, while Pikachu 173 rose 4.2%.

Grading: one of the most-graded modern Pokémon cards

FiveCardGuys, on 26 May 2026, put Charizard ex 199/165 at 27,527 PSA 10s and 47,230 PSA 9s from a PSA population near 100,000 — a 28.28% gem rate — against 1,715 CGC 10s and 200 CGC Pristine 10s at 34.42%. Average sale prices that day: raw about $405, PSA 9 $415, PSA 10 $1,650, CGC 10 $725, CGC Pristine 10 $2,295, all USD and all averages rather than transactions.

The direction is the interesting part. Wargamer, on 25 March 2025, put PSA 10 copies around US$2,500 in January 2025 and close to US$2,000 by mid-March. Against roughly $1,650 in May 2026, the graded card has come down while the raw card has gone up, and a float of 27,527 PSA 10s explains it. No population figure was retrievable for any other 151 card, and an earlier GemRate reading of 26,218 PSA 10s is a different snapshot of a moving number — hence the date on every figure here.

Rotation, and where 151 sits in the era

151 carries the G regulation mark and left Standard with the rest of the era's first year: 26 March 2026 in Pokémon TCG Live, 10 April 2026 at in-person events, under the rotation announced 9 January 2026, which leaves marks H, I, J and later legal. Six expansions rotated — the base set, Paldea Evolved, Obsidian Flames, 151, Paradox Rift and Paldean Fates — and of those, 151 carries the lowest index. Rotation is a legality change, not a statement about manufacturing, and no source ties a 151 price move to it.
