Pokémon TCG Chaos Rising: Every Card, Chase Prices & Mega Greninja ex

Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution—Chaos Rising is the fourth English set of the Mega Evolution block, released May 22, 2026 with 122 cards: 86 in the main set plus 36 secret rares numbered 087 to 122. Its PTCGL code is CRI and a booster pack lists at $4.49 USD. Two months on, every Chaos Rising card with a price series is down since launch, with no exceptions, and every sealed product bar the booster pack has followed — while the Japanese print of the same artwork has held its value almost exactly.

One Japanese set, three additions, one cut

Chaos Rising is a single-source set, drawn from Ninja Spinner (M4), released in Japan on March 13, 2026. The arithmetic reconciles exactly: Japan's main set ran 83 cards, and English added three — Mega Gallade ex from a January 2026 Japanese special set, plus Krookodile ex and Adversity Policy from Japan's November 2025 Gym promos — for 86. Fennekin's Illustration Rare went the other way, cut and repurposed as the Elite Trainer Box promo, which is why English has 11 Illustration Rares where Japan had 12. Susumu Maeya drew three of the twelve — Froakie 088, Frogadier 089 and the Mega Greninja ex Special Illustration Rare 116 — making the Kalos water line a natural three-card display set. takuyoa drew the Ultra Rare 100 and the gold 122; 5ban Graphics handled five of the 18 Ultra Rares.

What is new in the rules text

The Mega Evolution ex rule carries over unchanged: knock one out and the opponent takes three Prize cards instead of two. Three things are new. Transformation Tome, 083, is an Item that must be played two at a time, swapping a Basic in the discard pile with one in play. Ange Floette, 075, is a Stadium playable only by discarding a Prism Tower, 080, in play, and it may be played during the same turn Prism Tower was; it gives every Mega Floette ex on the table plus 150 HP. Cards 084 to 086 are three drawback-free Special Energy, one each for Water, Metal and Fire.

The market since launch

Every card with a price series fell in both May to June and June to July — no exceptions. USD, ungraded Near Mint, PriceCharting, July 24, 2026.

Illustration Rares fell hardest — Froakie, Frogadier, Xerneas and Ampharos all lost 47% to 50% — while Cinccino ex 119 and AZ's Tranquility 120 held best at −27.8% and −28.7%. CardMoat, on TCGplayer data, rated the set zero buy signals against 17 sell on July 24, 2026.

Sealed followed at a gentler slope. Against May launch prices the booster box is −17.6% at $197.87, the Elite Trainer Box −26.2% at $70.00, the Booster Bundle −30.7% at $35.75 and the Pokémon Center ETB −38.1% at $130.90, all eBay-sold, USD, July 24, 2026. At $4.49 a pack, 36 packs carry $161.64 of pack MSRP; the box still sells above that.

Graded is falling with raw rather than against it. The gold 122 sold in PSA 10 at $2,600.00 on July 3, $1,259.18 on July 22 and $1,020.00 on July 24; the 116 sold at $850.00 on July 22 and at $710.00, $699.00, $690.00 and $675.00 on July 24 alone. The pair produce the set's clearest grading inversion: raw, 122 trades below 116, $190.25 against $238.50, but graded it trades well above, with a TAG 10 at $2,025.00 on May 28 and PSA 10s clearing $1,600.00 on four dates.

Same art, two prints, opposite outcomes

The most interesting number here is not an English one. Ninja Spinner released in Japan on March 13, 2026 with the same artwork, and its prices have barely moved. USD, ungraded, PriceCharting, July 24, 2026.

The Japanese gold has moved −0.8% in four and a half months; the English gold −40.4% in two. Japanese Cinccino ex is fractionally up. The gap is wide enough to invert the ranking: the Japanese gold trades at roughly 2.6 times the English one, $488.98 against $190.25.

The artwork is identical, so the divergence is not about the cards. What differs is the print. The same pattern runs through the English side of the block: the two 2025 sets no longer being printed trade at $458.85 and $584.15 CAD a booster box, while the three 2026 sets still in print, Chaos Rising among them at $261.41 CAD, trade at roughly half that. The data does not establish causation.
