Pokémon TCG White Flare: All 173 Cards, Chase Prices & Products

Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—White Flare released on 18 July 2025 with 173 cards: 86 main set and 87 secret rares numbered 087 to 173. That is one more than its twin Black Bolt, which arrived the same day: a single extra Illustration Rare. Reshiram is the cover Pokémon; the ceiling is the Victini Black White Rare at 172/086 at CA$785.30, with the Reshiram ex Black White Rare at 173/086 behind it at CA$710.58 on Quaza Track, 25 July 2026. Why White Flare has one more card than Black Bolt

The two sets are near-mirrors: same release day, same /086 denominator, the same eight Ultra Rares, seven Special Illustration Rares and two Black White Rares. The whole difference is one Illustration Rare, 70 here against 69, so the numbering runs one higher from 157 onward and ends at 173/086.

The Japanese sets hold 174 cards each with 72 Art Rares. Two of White Flare's were cut and reissued as promos: Tornadus as SVP Black Star Promo 210 in the Elite Trainer Box, Gothitelle as SVP 211 in the Tech Sticker Collection. 72 minus 2 is 70; Black Bolt lost three the same way, which is why it has 69.

The numbering is where the pair catches people out. White Flare's 171/086 is Hilda, and both sets hold a card at 166/086 — Reshiram ex here by kawayoo, Zekrom ex in Black Bolt. The Victini at 172/086 is White Flare's; Black Bolt's print of the same 5ban Graphics illustration carries a different number, and the two differ only in symbol and number.

The five Pokémon lines that changed sides

The English lists are not straight translations. Five lines moved sides in localisation: Litwick, Lampent, Chandelure, Vullaby and Mandibuzz came into English White Flare from the Japanese Black Bolt list, while Klink, Klang, Klinklang, Rufflet and Braviary went the other way. That is why Chandelure sits at 018/086 here, with its Illustration Rare at 103/086 by Kuroimori, despite being a Black Bolt card in Japan. Bulbapedia reads the swap as White Flare taking the Pokémon Black exclusives, which is single-source.

The split is otherwise total: 78 species each, zero overlap, union 156 — exactly the number introduced in Generation V. Victini is the one exception the official expansion page names, and it has no White Flare main-set card, existing here only as the Black White Rare. Across both sets 152 of the 156 species have an illustration-rare-or-better card in an expansion, and the four that do not are Tornadus and Gothitelle here and Thundurus and Reuniclus in Black Bolt — not Victini, covered by its Black White Rares.

Every USD figure below is a market-price observation on the stated date, not a transaction: no individually dated sale could be sourced for any card here, with PriceCharting, TCGplayer, eBay and PSA all returning HTTP 403. Cardrake and CardCodex share a feed and count as one source.

Hilda is the set's character chase and appears three times: the Supporter at 084/086 and the Ultra Rare at 164/086, both by yuu, then the Special Illustration Rare by Naoki Saito, one of the most collected names in the game. 5ban Graphics has a heavier footprint here than in its twin, at eight cards including three of Reshiram ex's four prints; the 166/086 Special Illustration Rare is kawayoo's. Oshawott 105/086 is the outlier: a first-partner Illustration Rare quoted above three of the seven SIRs.

New Trainers and the Black and White callbacks

White Flare is the more mechanically novel half of the pair: five of its eight Trainer and Energy cards have no earlier English print in the pokemontcg.io corpus, against three in Black Bolt — Antique Plume Fossil 079/086, Brave Bangle 080/086, Harlequin 083/086, Hilda 084/086 and Ignition Energy 086/086, on absence from one database, not a confirmed first print. Two were later reprinted in the Mega block, Ignition Energy in Phantasmal Flames and Brave Bangle in Pitch Black. Two of the three reprints are Black and White era: Cheren from Emerging Powers (2011) and Tool Scrapper from Dragons Exalted (2012); Energy Retrieval goes back to Base Set.

Both are easy to overstate. Ignition Energy provides one Colorless Energy on a Basic and three on an Evolution Pokémon, and is discarded at the end of your turn; Brave Bangle adds 30 damage only when the attached Pokémon has no Rule Box, and only against the opponent's Active Pokémon ex. The official overview names Emboar's Ability, Inferno Fandango, as White Flare's returning Black & White mechanic, opposite Eelektrik's Dynamotor in Black Bolt; its text was not retrievable, so it is named, not described. Regulation marks are uniform: all 173 cards carry mark I, unlike Black Bolt's two older-marked reprints.

Every product, contents and MSRP

Twelve product lines carry White Flare packs: seven exclusive, five mixing packs from both halves of the pair. There is no 36-pack booster box — White Flare is a special expansion and none was ever sold — so the large format is the Booster Bundle Display, ten bundles and 60 packs. Prices are live below and on the White Flare tracker page; untracked rows read N/A.

What the tracker shows

White Flare's Quaza set index reads 138.58 on 25 July 2026, up 38.6% over three months on a base of 100. That is the highest of the 41 sets Quaza indexes, Black Bolt second at 136.21, the Scarlet & Violet mean 114.86. The correlation is with release recency, not card quality: these two were the last sets before the era closed on 26 September 2025, and the sharpest re-rating falls after a set stops being the current release. The three Mega sets still shipping sit between 43.96 and 94.68.

The indexes are sealed-only: for all 41 indexed sets the member count equals the sealed product count exactly. What re-rated upward is sealed product, not every White Flare card. Raw singles across the era often went the other way — Iono 269/193 sits 54% below its launch month while the Paldea Evolved box is up 128%.

All four tracked sealed products moved up, which only Paradox Rift also managed, and the whole set fits in a −2.7% to +2.6% band, the narrowest range in the era. The Booster Bundle Display at CA$1,424.52 sits 36% above ten Booster Bundles bought separately at CA$1,047.30, against a 63% premium on Black Bolt's.

Every tracked product comparison favours Black Bolt, by 6% to 24%: the Victini here trades 6.3% below Black Bolt's print of the same illustration, the Reshiram ex Black White Rare 14% below Black Bolt's Zekrom ex Black White Rare, the Elite Trainer Box 12% below at CA$215.26 and the Pokémon Center box 10% below at CA$373.25. Within the set, the Reshiram ex Special Illustration Rare at 166/086 trades at roughly 43% of the Black White Rare print of the same card.
