Pokémon TCG Scarlet & Violet Base Set: Every Card, Prices & Products

Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet, the base set of the era, released 31 March 2023 with 258 cards — 198 main set plus 60 secret rares numbered 199 to 258. It introduced Pokémon ex and Tera Pokémon ex, retired the yellow card border from here on, and took the booster pack from $3.99 to $4.49 USD. Three years on it prices as two sets: a sealed box is CA$436.83 on Quaza Track and 44% above its launch month in USD, while Gardevoir ex 245/198 raw is 34% below its own. What this set changed about every card that followed

The Pokémon Company published the changes on 9 December 2022, and they were structural. Yellow borders became the silver border already used in Japan, framing artwork "in its originally intended border". Expansion symbols became an expansion code printed bottom-left beside a language code — which is why every card here reads SVI EN and carries no set symbol. The Trainer subcategory moved to the top left, Energy cards were restyled, and Pokémon Tool became a full Trainer category. Two changes reached the buyer: packs went to three guaranteed foils from two, and Elite Trainer Boxes gained a pack and a full-art promo, which is why this era's ETBs hold nine packs where Sword & Shield held eight. The same article raised the pack from $3.99 to $4.49 USD — the only officially published, dated price this set has.

Pokémon ex debut here — lowercase ex, a different card class and a different name from the 2014-era Pokémon-EX, so four Miraidon and four Miraidon ex can share a deck. The rule box reads "When your Pokémon ex is Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards": two Prizes, not the three a Mega Evolution Pokémon ex gives up in the later era. All twelve main-set Double Rares are Pokémon ex, each with a matching Ultra Rare at 223–234.

Tera Pokémon ex debut with them, on a narrower rule than they are usually given: "As long as this Pokémon is on your Bench, prevent all damage done to this Pokémon by attacks (both yours and your opponent's)." Bench only; attacks only, so damage counters placed by an Ability or a Trainer still land; and both players' attacks, including your own. Only Arcanine ex 032/198 and Gyarados ex 045/198 carry it, plus their Ultra Rare reprints at 224 and 225 — four Tera cards in 258.

The 258 cards, and the 15 that carry the set

The 198-card main set runs 105 Commons, 60 Uncommons, 21 Rares and 12 Double Rares. The 60 secrets tier cleanly: 24 Illustration Rares at 199–222, 20 Ultra Rares at 223–242 (12 Pokémon ex, 8 Supporters), 10 Special Illustration Rares at 243–252 (six Pokémon ex, four Supporters) and 6 Hyper Rares at 253–258 — Miraidon ex, Koraidon ex, Nest Ball, Rare Candy and two Basic Energy. No Mega, no Radiant, no VSTAR, no Trainer Gallery.

Three names fetch the wrong card if shortened: Miraidon 080 is not Miraidon ex (081, 227, 244, 253), Koraidon 124 is not Koraidon ex (125, 231, 247, 254), and Professor's Research (Professor Sada) 189 is a different card from Professor's Research (Professor Turo) 190, each with its own Ultra Rare.

Jiro Sasumo owns the expensive end — Ralts 211, Kirlia 212 and Gardevoir ex 245, the whole Gardevoir chase line. Drowzee 210 is Tomokazu Komiya's funfair at dusk: a Ferris wheel, a carousel, a pillow left on a bench.

Grading, not printing, is where the value went

Every figure here is USD, from PriceCharting's monthly series and its dated completed-sales rows, read 25 July 2026. The booster box traded at $208.28 in its first full month (April 2023), peaked at $285.81 that May, bottomed at $79.12 in December 2023 and sat between $81 and $95 through the first eight months of 2024. The turn runs from roughly September 2024 to March 2025 — broad Pokémon demand, not a dated event specific to this set — and the box printed $299.99 in July 2026, +279% off the trough and within a rounding error of its all-time high. The Elite Trainer Boxes ran further: Koraidon $25.38 to $128.00, Miraidon $32.13 to $142.00.

Raw singles went the other way. Gardevoir ex 245/198 was $105.03 in its launch month of March 2023 and reads $69.23 today on PriceCharting, $74.99 on grld.gg above, 34% below launch, while a box on the same basis is 44% above. A closed era did not lift everything.

The gem rates say what it lifted. Illustration Rares gem between 10.3% and 16.6%; Special Illustration Rares between 30.5% and 45.8% across all ten in the set — roughly a threefold difference in PSA 10 conversion between two tiers out of the same packs. Hence the multiples: the seven Illustration Rares above run 14.6× to 22.8× raw-to-PSA-10, where most of the ten Special Illustration Rares sit between 3.5× and 12.1×. Ralts 211 is the extreme — the worst gem rate of any chase card here, a PSA 10 population of 765, a $43 raw card and a $742 slab. Drowzee 210 slabs sold $870.00 to $1,000.00 across five dated eBay sales on 15–23 July 2026; raw copies sold $47.00 to $60.79 on 21–24 July.

Spidops ex 243/198 is the card gem rates do not explain: an ordinary 39.6%, yet an $11 raw card produced PSA 10 sales of $334.25 on 29 June and $550.00 on 7 July 2026. The scarcity is on the other side — 1,175 total submissions, among the smallest graded populations in the set; only Arven 249 (978) and Jacq 250 (1,107) are lower.

Format status, and where the set sits in the era

Every card here is Regulation Mark G, so the set left Standard on 10 April 2026, when the 2026 rotation — announced 9 January, live in Pokémon TCG Live from 26 March — removed that mark. It took out the first year of the Scarlet & Violet Series: this set, Paldea Evolved, Obsidian Flames, 151, Paradox Rift and Paldean Fates. Marks H, I, J and later stay legal and these cards remain Expanded-legal as of 25 July 2026. Rotation is a tournament-legality change and says nothing about whether a set is still being manufactured.

The tracker carries 14 products here, 6 sealed and 8 singles, averaging −1.2% over the seven days to 25 July 2026 against an era-wide −0.90%. The Quaza set index reads 111.65, up 11.7% in three months — computed from sealed products only, which is why it cannot be read as a statement about the singles above. The set that followed carries the same divergence, wider: the Paldea Evolved guide has a box up 128% on its launch month — or 410% off its December 2023 trough, the baseline it leads with — against Iono 269/193 raw down 54% on its launch month.
