Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Journey Together released March 28, 2025 with 190 cards: 159 main set plus 31 secret rares numbered 160 to 190. It brought Trainer's Pokémon back to a main expansion, and its top tracked single is Lillie's Clefairy ex 184/159 at CA$173.64 on July 25, 2026. It also shipped a second booster display with a sealed box topper inside, the first in nineteen years.

The box topper that came back after nineteen years

Journey Together shipped two 36-pack display SKUs, which no other Scarlet & Violet set did. The Enhanced Booster Display Box held the same 36 packs plus a sealed Box Topper: the Illustration Rare N's Reshiram 167/159, stamped with an expansion logo in-pack copies do not carry. Bulbapedia records it as the first booster display with a Box Topper since EX Holon Phantoms in 2006. The revival lasted one set; Destined Rivals reverted to a single SKU.

Distribution ran four ways, which is why accounts of this box disagree. It sold through the Pokémon Center online store; American Play! Pokémon retailers got Enhanced boxes to sell and regular boxes as tournament prizing; European Play! retailers could stock either; non-Play! retailers worldwide, Best Buy and GameStop among them, only ever had the regular box. A red graphic on the Enhanced flap describes the promo.

The box with more in it is the cheaper of the two. Quaza Track has the Enhanced box at CA$389.83 against CA$419.59 on July 25, 2026, with the seven-day direction running the other way, +1.0% against −0.1%. Two things sit underneath that, neither a demonstrated cause: the topper is a mid-tier Illustration Rare, and the regular box was the scarcer sealed SKU in North America because Enhanced was the default there.

Pricing advisory

No MSRP has ever been confirmed for the Enhanced Booster Display Box. The PHD Games solicitation of January 9, 2025 carries one Booster Display line at US$161.64 and no Enhanced entry, so this guide states none. No separate price was established for the stamped topper card as against the unstamped in-pack copy.

Trainer's Pokémon, and why the possessive is the card name

Two "first time since" claims circulate here and both are right. Bulbapedia calls this the first main expansion to feature Trainer's Pokémon since EX Team Magma vs Team Aqua in 2004; The Pokémon Company's expansion page says the mechanic debuted in Gym Heroes and had not appeared since Double Crisis in 2015, which was a special set.

There is no new keyword, card type or rule box — it is a naming rule with three consequences. The owner's name is part of the printed name, so the four-copy limit counts each version separately and a deck can run four Bellibolt and four Iono's Bellibolt. Evolution is owner-locked: N's Zoroark ex 098/159 evolves from N's Zorua, not Zorua. And card text can address a whole family, as Iono's Bellibolt ex does in attaching Basic Lightning Energy to any of your Iono's Pokémon. The prize rule is unchanged at two.

Four Trainers carry the set: N with 13 main-set cards, Hop 12, Iono 6, Lillie 5, plus one each for Brock and Iris — 38 possessive-named main-set cards, 31 of them Pokémon. Distributor copy advertised "more than 40 Trainer's Pokémon"; the count from the card list is 31.

The rarity ladder and the era's smallest secret pool

The main set is 85 Commons, 42 Uncommons, 16 Rares and 16 Double Rares. The 31 secrets run 160 to 190: 11 Illustration Rares, 11 Ultra Rares, 6 Special Illustration Rares and 3 gold Hyper Rares — the smallest secret pool of the sixteen Scarlet & Violet sets, against Destined Rivals' 62.

The 16 Double Rares are 16 Pokémon ex, four of them Trainer's Pokémon ex: Iono's Bellibolt ex 053, Lillie's Clefairy ex 056, N's Zoroark ex 098, Hop's Zacian ex 111. Bulbapedia's prose says "four Trainer's Pokémon ex, 16 regular Pokémon ex," which would total 20; its own card list says 16. One rule runs cleanly through them: the eight marked regulation H have no Ultra Rare full art in the set, and the eight marked I all do.

115 illustrators are credited across the 190 cards, 5ban Graphics most prolific at 11, and the six Special Illustration Rares are by six different hands, so there is no artist run to chase. Only Spiky Energy is uncredited, in both its printings; the gold 190/159 is the set's one Hyper Rare that is not a Pokémon ex.

The thirteen chase cards

Filterable by rarity. Prices are TCGplayer market prices in USD, rolling averages of completed sales rather than listing asks, observed July 25, 2026 except where the cell says otherwise.

Card Number Rarity Illustrator USD, Jul 25, 2026
Lillie's Clefairy ex 184/159 SIR Susumu Maeya $122.97
Salamence ex 187/159 SIR Tsuyoshi Nagano $60.53
N's Zoroark ex 185/159 SIR Megumi Mizutani $49.12
Iono's Bellibolt ex 183/159 SIR Yuu Nishida $41.33
Hop's Zacian ex 186/159 SIR DOM $36.91
N's Reshiram 167/159 IR Bun Toujo $20.69 (Jul 18, 2025)*
Volcanion ex 182/159 SIR akagi $19.56
Iono's Bellibolt ex 188/159 Hyper Rare 5ban Graphics $17.79
N's Zoroark ex 189/159 Hyper Rare takuyoa $15.46
Lillie's Clefairy ex 173/159 UR 5ban Graphics $8.10
Lillie's Ribombee 164/159 IR saino misaki $5.88
Spiky Energy 190/159 Hyper Rare uncredited $4.06
Brock's Scouting 179/159 UR Teeziro $2.12

*N's Reshiram 167/159 is the one stale row: TCGplayer last refreshed it on July 18, 2025, so US$20.69 is a year old and is not a current value. Concentration is otherwise severe. The six Special Illustration Rares total US$330.42, Lillie's Clefairy ex 184/159 alone is 37% of that, and the main-set Double Rares of the same four Trainer's Pokémon trade under US$2.

Graded population and measured pull rates

GemTracker's PSA population report, data-dated July 23, 2026, puts Lillie's Clefairy ex 184/159 at 19,322 submissions with 5,745 PSA 10s, Salamence ex 187/159 at 13,244 with 4,210, and N's Zoroark ex 185/159 at 9,864 with 3,307. Set-wide: 230,013 PSA, 5,299 BGS. The most-graded card is not a chase card — Articuno 161/159 has 27,807.

No official pull rates exist, for this set or any other, in any region. A measured sample does: TCGplayer's Authentication Center opened over 8,000 packs and published observed rates with 95% confidence intervals on March 28, 2025. Double Rare 20.29% of packs, Illustration Rare 8.50%, Ultra Rare 6.54%, Special Illustration Rare 1.16% (1 in 86), Hyper Rare 0.73%. With only six Special Illustration Rares, a named one is roughly 1 in 518.

Where Journey Together settled in a closed era

The Scarlet & Violet era closed on September 26, 2025, when Mega Evolution replaced it as the current block, and sealed products from it have re-rated upward since. Journey Together's Quaza set index reads 108.29, up 8.3% over three months and third-lowest of the sixteen. The index covers sealed products only. Across the era raw singles went the other way, and this set's own main-set Double Rares now trade under US$2.

This is a cheap set by its era's standards, and it is worth being precise about where that holds. The booster box at CA$419.59 is second-cheapest of the ten Scarlet & Violet sets with one, above only Paradox Rift, and 45% below the CA$760.30 Destined Rivals commands nine weeks later. The Booster Bundle at CA$67.27 is the cheapest bundle of the sixteen, but not the cheapest sealed product in the era: all eight Prismatic Evolutions mini tins undercut it, and it ranks ninth of 103 tracked sealed items.

Lillie's Clefairy ex 184/159 at CA$173.64 is eighth from the bottom of the sixteen set-toppers, so seven sets have a cheaper one. The gap above it is the interesting part: the next topper up is Surging Sparks' Pikachu ex 238/191 at CA$459.95, a 2.6× jump with nothing between. The set's seven-day move is −1.4% against an era-wide −0.90%.

On format, the 2026 rotation dropped regulation mark G, effective in person April 10, 2026. Journey Together was not among the expansions removed, but legality follows the mark on the card and this is a mixed-mark set: 131 marked I, 58 marked H, one marked G — Professor's Research 155/159, the only card of the 190 no longer Standard-legal.
