Pokémon TCG Pitch Black: Every Card, Chase Prices & Mega Darkrai ex

Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution—Pitch Black released July 17, 2026 with 120 cards: 84 main set plus 36 secret rares numbered 085 to 120, the smallest set of the Mega Evolution block. Mega Darkrai ex is its face and appears four times; the top card is its Special Illustration Rare at 116/084 by AKIRA EGAWA, at $288 to $307 USD on July 23–24, 2026. The set is one week old, and Quaza Track shows tracked sealed down an average 32.3% over those seven days. Where the 84 main-set cards come from

Pitch Black carries the Japanese set Abyss Eye, released May 22, 2026, and the arithmetic closes exactly: Abyss Eye has 81 main-set cards, Pitch Black has 84, and the three additions are Japanese Gym promos — Mega Delphox ex 008, Mega Slowbro ex 031 and Jett 079. Nothing is left over. Worth stating, because some coverage credited Ninja Spinner as a second source; it contributed nothing here, and fed Chaos Rising.

There is no new game mechanic, and the block-wide rule still applies: a knocked-out Mega Evolution Pokémon ex gives the opponent three Prize cards, not the two a normal ex gives up. Six Mega ex appear — Delphox (008, 350 HP), Zeraora (027, 270), Slowbro (031, 330), Chandelure (038, 350), Darkrai (048, 280) and Excadrill (065, 340), five by 5ban Graphics and Excadrill by Keisuke Azuma. The regular ex are Lurantis (004), Wailord (016, 380 HP, the highest here), Rampardos (045) and Morpeko (055).

What is new is a cluster of Darkness and Fossil cards. Shadowy Darkness Energy (083) blocks all attack damage to the Benched Darkness Pokémon holding it; Voltaic Lightning Energy (084) adds 20 damage against the Active. Fossil Quarry (076) searches up to two Antique Trainers onto the Bench, alongside Antique Armor and Antique Skull Fossil (072–073, AYUMI ODASHIMA). Tremendous Bomb (082) drops 12 damage counters onto any Mega ex dealing 240 or more to the Active non-Mega holding it.

What the market did in launch week

Across the four tracked Pitch Black sealed products, the average seven-day move to July 24, 2026 is −32.3%, ranging from −71.8% to −15.2%. The Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box is the −71.8% end; the standard Elite Trainer Box fell 19%, the box 15.2%. The block's other five sets moved between −0.8% and −5.8% that week.

The mechanism is the ordinary post-launch unwind. Before July 17 the only supply was preorder allocation, which prices access rather than contents: Beckett recorded presale boxes at $202 to $247 USD, with closes reaching $250 to $272 before release. On July 17 retail restocked, the float widened, and the price of access converged toward the price of the contents: a box was $208.15 USD on July 24. The Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box fell hardest because it was the most allocation-constrained item in the line — 11 packs, with a second Zarude promo the standard box lacks. Almost all of its premium was scarcity, so almost all of it came off.

Sealed is nonetheless still above the listed preorder prices. All USD: that $208.15 box is 29% over Pokémon Center's $161.64, the Elite Trainer Box at $79.40 is 32% over $59.99, the Booster Bundle at $41.57 is 54% over $26.94 — those three Pokémon Center figures being single-sourced June preorder listings, not a published MSRP. A 32% weekly decline and a 29% premium to sticker are the same market from two starting points.

What follows, on the tracker's evidence, turns on print status rather than card quality. On July 24 the two 2025 Mega sets, both out of print, traded at $458.85 and $584.15 CAD a box, while the three still in print — Perfect Order, Chaos Rising and Pitch Black — traded at $242.42, $261.41 and $296.56 CAD. Out-of-print Mega sets have roughly doubled; in-print ones have not moved.

The Mega Hyper Rare needs both its numbers stated, because they measure different things. Aggregators put Mega Darkrai ex 120/084 at $191 to $210 USD on July 24, while dated eBay sales ran far higher in mid-July: $400 on July 7, $425 on July 11, $470 on July 19, all via Beckett, plus a $750 presale on July 1. Both are real — eBay is a thin prerelease float, the aggregators a post-release market. The Japanese original is the leading indicator: near ¥200,000 at its May launch, ¥160,000 on SNKRDUNK on July 9, roughly −20% in seven weeks.

Sixteen products carry Pitch Black cards: twelve in the launch wave, one of them — the Build & Battle Box — sold only at the July 4–12 prereleases, and four scheduled for August 28 and October 2. CAD is live from Quaza Track; untracked rows read N/A.
